Missed live arts performances over the past year? (Who hasn’t?) Buckle up, because Lincoln Center’s Restart Stages kicks off on April 7, and there’s a lot to see! This sweeping initiative will create 10 outdoor performance and rehearsal spaces on the Lincoln Center campus and additional outdoor civic venues as part of the effort to kickstart the performing arts sector and contribute to the revival of New York City. It will feature a dedicated family and kids' areas with arts activities for young people; an outdoor reading room, created in partnership with The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts; a cabaret-style stage on Hearst Plaza, outdoor film screenings, and workshops with the New York City Ballet, to name just a few aspects of the programming. Plus: blood drives with the New York Blood Center and food drives with the New York City Food Bank.

The museum’s incredible planetarium is open again after closing in March 2020, with timed ticketing and reduced capacity. (It usually holds up to 429 people; now, audiences are capped at 48.)
Now screening is Worlds Beyond Earth, narrated by Academy Award-winner Lupita Nyong’o. The show features immersive visualizations, groundbreaking space missions, and breathtaking scenes depicting the evolution of our solar system—all rendered in 8K on the most advanced planetarium projection system in the world.

Join Drag Queen Harmonica Sunbeam on Zoom to hear her read a selection of books, sing songs, and chat with kids in this virtual Drag Queen Story Hour (DQSH) program for kids of all ages. The classic NYC sight-seeing boat cruise is back in action as of April 1. Capacity is reduced to allow for social distancing, and masks are required. (But there’s lots of room on the outdoor deck to spread out!) Choose from the “Best of NYC” tour (2.5 hours), NYC Landmarks (90 minutes) or quicker trips to take in the Statue of Liberty.
Tours leave from Pier 83 in Midtown and an Express Statue of Liberty tour leaves from Slip 6 in Battery Park. Snag some introductory rate tickets through April 11!

If your family has been looking to get your flea market on, start your engines. The popular Brooklyn Fleas in Williamsburg (open Saturdays, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.) and DUMBO (open Sundays, 10 a.m. - 5 p.m.) return the weekend of April 3. (The Chelsea Flea, which has been operating throughout the pandemic, is open 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.)
The new addition to the Flea empire is Hester Flea, previously known as the Hester Street Fair. Located on the Lower East Side on Essex Street, the market will open on Saturdays mid-April, with Sundays to likely follow in May. Hours are 11 a.m. - 6 p.m.
